Unemployment SolutionAccording to Statistics SA - in the fourth quarter of 2010 there were 13,1 million employed South Africans. In the same period, the number of South Africans who were unemployed remained high at 4,1 million persons. The unemployment rate was high for Black Africans at 28,1% followed by the Coloured population group at 21,3%. Indian and White population groups had the lowest unemployment rates at 7,9% and 5,5% respectively.
This is where the SA National Job Fair plays an integral part. The SA National Job fair is a new concept and 2011 will be the first year it takes place in South Africa. Internationally such fairs have proven to be a great success and massive aid to unemployment. The SA National Job Fair is an event where a large number of recruiters and potential employers will gather for the purpose of providing information about available positions and their companies in general. The Job Fair will be an employment facilitation strategy aimed to fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers and/or recruitment agencies in one venue at a specific date to reduce cost, time and effort particularly on the part of the applicants. The Job Fair will be open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh college graduates, graduates of training institutions, post maternity women looking to go back to work and employees seeking advancement. During the Job Fair, applicants will learn more about vacancies suited to their qualifications. Employers will interview and hire on the spot qualified workers. The Job Fair is a national job availing initiative that will begin in Gauteng. The Fair will then take place in the other 8 Provinces in South Africa. The venue cities will be Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Durban, Polokwane, Nelspruit, Rustenburg, Kimberley and Cape Town. |
